The Civil Works Alliance is seeking a skilled Project Planner to join our Main Civils delivery planning team. This role will support the Planning Lead in managing procurement, engineering, and manufacturing activities, coordinating both conventional supply chains and specialist material suppliers and Tier 2 subcontractors. Due to the nature of the work, some materials and services have significant lead-in times, requiring effective planning and scheduling to ensure timely project delivery.

The primary role includes developing and updating the MCW Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing schedules in coordination with the CWA team, Procurement, Engineering, and the T2 supply chain, ensuring these are integrated with the overall delivery schedule. The Planner will be responsible for capturing and updating progress on Procurement, T2 Engineering, and Manufacturing schedules, identifying any critical schedule slippage, and addressing potential delays.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, maintain, and update the contract/project procurement and engineering & manufacturing programmes in accordance with the project requirements.
  2. Review, comment on, and accept supply chain schedules.
  3. Analyse performance, advise the project team of likely impacts, and recommend improvements.
  4. Represent the project/business with stakeholders.
  5. Report on progress and issues, providing advice on mitigation.
  6. Coordinate with internal customers – supply chain, engineering, design, commercial, and construction.
  7. Responsible for the delivery of planning and coordination processes.
  8. Liaise with site teams and supply chain to check on progress, issues, and review planned progress.
  9. Highlight issues for trending and resolution.
  10. Manage records and reporting.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 planning software.
  • Advanced project/programme controls skills.

  • Degree or industry-recognised qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related sector.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Lateral thinker capable of spotting trends/issues in production data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
