Project Planner
In the role of a vital team member within Aureos, the Project Planner, or Scheduler, holds a pivotal position in the Project Planning team. As assistant Project Planner, you will be instrumental in the planning and scheduling processes of our projects, utilising Primavera P6 software. This role requires a keen understanding of project management principles, proficiency in P6, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
We are seeking candidates within the Yorkshire and Sheffield area. This is a hybrid role, where the candidate will be working in the office 2 days a week. You will also be traveling to site as and when required.
Primary tasks and duties
Your role will require you to:
Project Planning:
- Utilise Primavera P6 to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, considering project scope, resource requirements, and timelines.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for schedule development.
Scheduling and Analysis:
- Assist schedule analysis, identifying critical paths, dependencies, and potential risks.
- Assist project teams to optimise schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Support in gathering evidence for Compensation Events and Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
Career Development:
- Training in Primavera P6 and other key project management tools.
- Workshops and mentoring sessions with experienced planners and project managers.
- Opportunities for professional qualifications relevant to planning and scheduling.
- Hands-on project experience to build technical and analytical skills.
Communication:
- Communicate schedule information effectively to project teams, management, and other stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates on project progress, deviations from the schedule, and proposed corrective actions.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project planning documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and project management best practices.
Aureos Governance:
- Ensure each programme undergoes a thorough review with project team and client with the aim of obtaining acceptance each month. In cases where acceptance is not granted, ensure there is ample correspondence provided to the client outlining the proposed course of action.
- Attend PMR Meetings
- Every Schedule scores a pass rate before submission to the client
- Ensure Schedules adhere to the Aureos Programme Management Plan
Secondary tasks and duties
- Engaging with the commercial and operational teams to drive continuous improvements.
- Displaying a commitment to personal professional growth and nurturing the development of others within the Business Unit.
- Other tasks appropriate to the role of Project Planner, as identified by the Senior Planner / Planning Manager
- Support and contribute to the Infrastructure PMO
- Support Business Unit initiatives
Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- 802A: Primavera P6 Professional fundamentals.
- Microsoft Packages - Visio / Excel / Word / Powerpoint etc.
- Basic knowledge of the concept of Planning with maybe 1 years’ experience in working with scheduling software packages like P6 and MSP.
Desirable:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent Knowledge
- Gain experience site experience to better understand the discipline of the business.
- Engineering or Commercial background
Skills and abilities
Essential:
- Some experience or knowledge of project planning tools (Primavera P6 is a plus).
- Strong organisational and analytical skills.
