National Gas seeks a technically strong, safety‑focused professional to bridge the Curchover Control Systems project team and Operations. You will drive safe working, lead by example, and coordinate best practices across main works contractors and sub-contractors.

You will provide technical support, manage risk assessments and permit guidance, and carry out control-system related operations while staying hands-on with maintenance during peaks, ensuring accurate asset representation and safe

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of process safety principles.
• Electrical/instrumentation maintenance, fault finding and installation experience.
• Experience in procurement, design, delivery and commissioning.
• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical support to the project team.
• Respond promptly to technical queries.
• Locate operational and as-built drawings.
• Attend progress meetings and advise on plant operations.
• Review risk assessments and method statements.
• Follow SCO 91 permit guidance and submission.
• Lead on control system project; act as Site Controller and Authorising Engineer.
• Maintain hands-on with maintenance during project peaks and troughs.
• Manage setting to work and ensure safe control of work procedures.
• Initiate G35 modification process from design to closure.
• Participate in HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA studies.

About the role

Provide effective interface between the Curchover Control Systems project team and Operations. To drive a team culture of safe working and safety compliance in all activities within policies and procedures. Acting as role model and demonstrating visible safety leadership to all stakeholders including identification of best practices and safety initiatives between main works contractors and sub-contractors.

This role ensures strong alignment between the Churchover Control Systems project team and Operations, promoting safe, compliant delivery through effective collaboration, visible safety leadership, and the sharing of best practice across all project stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Providing technical support to the project team
• Prompt reply to Technical Queries
• Locate operational and as-built drawings
• Attend project progress meetings and provide constructive input and guidance on physical plant operations / limitations
• Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements
• SCO 91 permitry guidance and submission.
• As a lead on the control system project, you’ll also carry out normal operational duties such as Site Controller, Authorising Engineer, a nd Competent Person within SCO/91 & 94
• You’ll remain hands-on with maintenance activities during the peaks and troughs of the project, which is essential to maintaining your authorised roles and staying close to the assets, ensuring operations are accurately represented
• Manage setting to work and in accordance with the safe control of work procedures
• Initiator for G35 modification process, follow design, installation, commissioning and closure of the modification
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, HAZCON, LOPA studies

What you'll bring

You’re a technically strong and safety-focused professional with experience across operations and project delivery in a live environment. You’re confident influencing decisions, working closely with multiple stakeholders, and providing practical, experience-led guidance. You communicate clearly, take ownership, and lead by example in maintaining high safety and operational standards.

• Thorough understanding of process safety
• Experienced in electrical/instrumentation maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics and installation
• Procurement, Design, Delivery and Commissioning experience
• Time served apprenticeship/relevant experience within the industry
