Job description

London preferred OR UK Remote | £50,200 - £92,000 (depending on depth of experience) + Benefits | Hear from the team

We’re looking for a dynamic problem solver who thrives on building things from scratch.

Our Payments Collective

We exist to provide a platform for teams to launch banking products with confidence.

The Payments Collective helps to make Monzo's global ambitions a reality, enabling revenue and customer growth with a resilient, self-serve banking platform.

About the Role…

In this role you will help design, build and run Monzo’s European payments capabilities as we expand across Europe. You’ll be setting up and managing a multitude of partnerships, leading complex implementation projects, building operational processes that are fit to scale globally, and working closely with product and engineering teams across Payments and EU teams.

This role will be based in the UK, and will be EU focused initially. The scope will expand globally as the Payments team adopts an as-a-service model to support Monzo’s continued expansion.

You’ll play a key role by…

  • Supporting partner selection and owning relationships with new partners and payment schemes.
  • Managing payment scheme implementation projects, onboarding and adherence processes.
  • Partnering with payments engineering and EU product teams to build, launch, and run new payment systems in Europe.
  • Building new back office processes to manage and scale EU payment systems.
  • Seeking out and prioritising issues to facilitate continuous improvement post-launch.
  • Establishing processes to manage performance for our partners and operations.

We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have experience working with payment systems and schemes, particularly within the EU
  • You’re familiar with payments regulations that apply to banks within Europe (SEPA, Bizum, IDEAL)
  • You’re a self starter, proactive, have a strong sense of ownership, and comfortable with ambiguity
  • You have experience managing relationships with a wide range of suppliers/3rd parties
  • You can build and scale complex operational systems
  • You have strong strategic reasoning; able to balance and prioritise short and long term tradeoffs
  • You’re comfortable getting into the details of technical systems and working with engineering teams
  • You love solving complex problems and have a track record of managing performance and SLAs.
  • You have built strong relationships and collaborate with partners to reach alignment and resolve issues.
  • You can drive clarity amidst ambiguity and focus on the things that matter.
  • You are organised and have managed complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • You are analytical and make data driven decisions.

What’s in it for you

£50,200 - £92,000 (depending on depth of experience) share options.

Ideally this role will be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (as long as you can get to London for ad hoc meetings and stakeholder engagement)

We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team.

£1,000 learning budget each year to use on books, training courses and conferences.

We will set you up to work from home; all employees are given Macbooks and for fully remote workers we will provide extra support for your work-from-home setup.

Plus lots more! Read our full list of benefits.

The application journey has 3 key steps

  • Quick call with a Monzo Recruiter
  • 30 min video-call with the Hiring Manager
  • Full-Loop (1 x Technical and 1 x Behavioural video-interviews)

This process should take around 2-3 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!

We have some guidelines on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ace an application and interview at Monzo. You can read them here.

You’ll hear from us throughout the application process, but if you’ve got any questions, please reach out tobusiness-hiring@monzo.com You can also use this email address to let us know if there’s anything we can do to make the process easier for you because of disability, neurodiversity or anything else.

We’ll only close this role once we have enough applications for the next stage. Please submit your application as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss out.
