Job description

Overview

Project Officer for Marine Research. The role supports research logistics and coordination for an exciting programme of ecological and social adaptation to climate change. The project is networked across multiple institutions in the UK, USA, Australia, Philippines and Indonesia, and aims to deliver research and impact funded by IDRC and FCDO. You will support the delivery of ClimateREEFS and other projects/programmes of work, managing their implementation at the various stages of the lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the running and logistics of projects, helping to deliver research into ecological and social adaptation to climate change.
  • Coordinate Asian research permits and logistics, and help with purchasing.
  • Provide accurate and articulate reports on project/programme progress; manage stakeholder expectations and risks.
  • Support the delivery of other research in the Marine Transitions lab, including projects researching reef tropicalisation and helping local managers to coordinate their efforts.
  • Assist interactions with funding agencies (IDRC, Lenfest) and multiple stakeholders and partners in the Global South; coordinate reporting on progress and outcomes.
  • Manage project operations and coordinate activities and events, including organising the international ECR network; assist with social media and coordination with project partner research delivery and collaborations.
  • Administer field logistics and documentation.
Reporting

Reporting to PI, you will assist with interactions with the funding agencies and partners and coordinate reporting on progress and outcomes.

About the Programme

The project is networked across multiple institutions and aims to deliver research and impact on climate change adaptation through collaborations with UK and international researchers, conservation NGOs and policy makers in Indonesia and the Philippines. The role involves working with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes and requires flexible, creative problem solving and preparation of outputs of the highest quality.
