Brunel University London invites applications for a Part-time Project Officer within the Heat Pipe and Thermal Management Research Group at the Uxbridge campus. The role focuses on water treatment and condensate chemistry to support cleaner industrial emissions and sustainable resource recovery.

Working 14 hours per week on a fixed-term 12-month contract, you will manage reporting, milestones and dissemination while collaborating with European partners and reporting to Professor Hussam Jouhara.

Job description

Applications are invited for a Project Officer role at the Heat Pipe Research Group of Brunel University London. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the environmental performance of industrial waste heat recovery by treating the condensate produced from a condensing economiser heat pipe system used to pre-treat industrial exhaust streams. Working alongside Brunel's heat pipe development activities, the Project Officer's role will focus specifically on the water treatment and chemistry side of the project, characterising the recovered condensate to support cleaner industrial emission management (IEM) and safe, effective resource recovery.

The project officer will support all cross-partner activities occurring during the project period, managing consortium-level activities and participating in the dissemination of project results.

The Project Officer is a key element of this project and will ensure that the condensate characterisation work is delivered. The successful candidate will manage reporting, milestone delivery, administration and dissemination relating to this activity, in addition to being a point of contact for this workstream, under the management of Professor Hussam Jouhara.

The successful applicant will join the Heat Pipe and Thermal Management Research Group, led by Professor Jouhara, to lead on condensate water treatment and chemistry within the wider project. The role also involves a broad range of theoretical, development and empirical work in water/wastewater treatment chemistry to support the project's environmental objectives, as well as attending project meetings and collaborating with European project partners on relevant activities.
