We are recruiting a Project Officer to support the development of our Landscape Recovery Scheme across relevant farms and neighbouring holdings. The role will focus on direct engagement with farmers and land managers, working together to understand ecological opportunities and land outcomes on their farm, delivering in practical activities that support understanding ecological outcomes and signposting to further support on wider scheme elements where possible.
Working closely with farmers and landowners, colleagues, and farming and ecology professionals, you will lead farm visits, demonstration events, mapping activities and contribute to communication materials that showcase the benefits of nature‑friendly farming and landscape‑scale conservation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building trusted relationships and turning plans into practical action on the ground.
You will join a collaborative team delivering ambitious nature recovery objectives across farmland and landscapes. Working with farmers, landowners, partner organisations and National Trust colleagues, you will play a key role in connecting people with the support, resources and opportunities available to help restore nature while maintaining productive and resilient farming businesses in the face of change.
This is a varied and outward‑facing role, combining field visits, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, mapping and contractor management. No two days are the same, with opportunities to work across multiple farms and landscapes while contributing to meaningful environmental change.
You will act as a key in person point of contact for farmers and land managers, building positive working relationships and ensuring they are connected to the information, funding opportunities and technical support needed to deliver environmental outcomes. You will undertake farm visits, facilitate discussions, and help farmers prepare for the Delivery phase of Landscape Recovery. Drawing on the specialist contribution of the Land Use and Nature Delivery Partners and working closely with the Project Team, you will support land managers in understanding and adopting approaches that benefit nature, climate and people.
You will develop and deliver engagement materials, workshops, demonstration events and farm visits that showcase successful approaches and encourage knowledge sharing between land managers. Through strong stakeholder communication and relationship management, you will help communicate project objectives and outcomes to a range of audiences, ensuring information is clear, accessible and relevant.
Working within project governance arrangements, you will manage data and records and support project reporting. You will confidently use mapping tools and spatial information to support planning, identify opportunities and communicate project priorities.
