Project Mechanical Engineer

The Sustainment team at Triton Systems focuses on developing innovative technologies to support water purification, power generation, advanced cooling, and thermal management for both military and civilian needs. We have a particular focus on marine renewable energy and are developing an innovative wave energy converter to provide up to 1 kW of power for commercial activities in the Blue Economy.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership to project teams
  • Recognizing and creatively solving complex problems
  • Guiding ideation and prototype development
  • Communication with customers
  • Management of collaborators (consultants, subcontractors, etc.)
  • Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
  • Supervision and development of junior staff
  • Business development through proposal writing

Desired Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including numerical analysis and modeling and systems experience
  • Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with structured problem solving and product development
  • Hands-on experimental and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods
  • Experience conducting analysis of alternatives and technology review
  • Familiarity with solid modeling, SolidWorks preferred
  • Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies

Education/Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years experience working in design, prototype fabrication and testing is needed
  • Experience managing technical teams and directing projects is a must
  • Experience with SBIR program is a plus
