Project/Mechanical Design Engineer / Kings Lynn / permanent / Salary up to £35K per annum

Position 1 Recruitment is proud to be working with a leading specialist in water treatment equipment solutions, who is currently seeking a Project/Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering team based in Kings Lynn.

As a Project/Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in managing technical projects from concept through to completion. You will collaborate across teams including production, marketing, and senior management, contributing to both design and research & development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to define project specifications and procedures
  • Lead project planning and coordinate technical activities
  • Contribute to R&D efforts for new and existing products
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, suppliers, and sales teams
  • Analyse technical and resource needs to assess project feasibility
  • Support installation, maintenance, and testing of equipment

Design of mechanical components and assessment of design suitability, development of equipment specifications and performance requirements, creation and maintenance of assembly drawings, manuals, and supporting documentation, overseeing scheduling, budgeting, and cost calculations, liaising with clients, colleagues, and suppliers on technical matters, and promoting a safe working environment in line with company QHSE standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Proficient in CAD and 3D CAD software (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or Alibre preferred)
  • Background in metal fabrication desirable
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent attention to detail and computer literacy
  • Familiarity with water industry standards a plus
  • Confident in report writing and project documentation
  • Ability to manage workload under pressure with strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and reliable team player

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch break)
