About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manufacturing Manager Lead to join our manufacturing and support line of business based at Edinburgh Park, SA, reporting to the Enablement Manager.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

You will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing execution of Defence programs for one shot devices, delivering machined components, electronics, and complex electromechanical assemblies. This role leads a team of manufacturing project managers to meet project cost, schedule, quality, and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of manufacturing project managers across multiple programs.
  • Be a strong and vocal POC for escalation of issues/roadblocks impacting ability to deliver project scope.
  • Set clear expectations, monitor team performance, and drive professional development.
  • Ensure delivery of manufacturing projects to meet schedule, cost, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and drive Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to monitor schedule and cost performance.
  • Work closely with production, procurement, and engineering to ensure resource, material, and capability readiness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Planning, Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Quality teams.
  • Provide timely and transparent reporting on manufacturing status, risks, and financial performance to stakeholders.

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications and experience that meet the eligibility criteria for membership with the Australian Institute of Project Management (Essential).
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in managing manufacturing or technical project teams.
  • Strong understanding of machining, electronics, and complex electromechanical assembly processes (Desirable).
  • Demonstrated expertise in project controls, including Earned Value Management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. High attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • A current Baseline Clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations.
