Job summary

Jointmedica Ltd seeks a Project Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing methods improvements at its site in Hallow, Worcestershire. The role drives zero-defect processes, GMP adherence, and ISO 13485 quality system compliance, with emphasis on process capability, control, and continuous improvement for medical implants.

You will read drawings, program and control CNC/machines, and collaborate with planning/design teams to ensure efficient production and documented processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HND/HNC in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.
  • 3+ years in a Manufacturing/Project Engineering role, ideally in a mechanical/design environment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Experience with ISO/ASTM standards is advantageous.
  • Experience in project planning, delivery and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.

  • Report production times, methodologies, staffing and costs for management decisions.
  • Identify and introduce product/process improvements.

  • Program, operate, monitor and control CNC machines and manual processes.
  • Complete critical records on product and process including inspection and TPM.
  • Inspect and maintain production equipment and control systems.
  • Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Assist in creation of SOPs, risk assessments, COSHH, PUWER and training packages.
  • Engage in Lean tools like Kaizen, VSM, PFMEA.
  • Assist in validation projects and improvement activities.
  • Ensure GMP and good documentation practices.
  • Participate in safety, training and quality audits; maintain tidy records.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Project Manufacturing Engineer to work out of our site in Hallow Worcestershire. The ideal candidate will drive manufacturing processes towards zero defects. Improve capability, process control and performance. Work to fully understand the manufacturing processes and analyse deviations and trends. Provide general technical support. This will involve working on various production tasks, applying good manufacturing practice (GMP), and in accordance with an ISO 13485 quality system. You will be required to ensure that the manufacturing equipment is maintained according to the schedules and that the processes and inspections are fully documented according to the current process plans. You will also be involved in driving through continuous improvement projects and the development and manufacturing of new or bespoke Medical Implants.

Responsibilities

Liaise with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Read and interpret engineering drawings and technologies.

Able to report out production times, methodologies, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

Identification and introduction of product/process improvements.

Specifies material requirements, defining suitable methods of manufacture and identifying, and implementing necessary tooling and equipment.

Understands, managing budgets, in terms of cost and time.

Able to Program, operate, monitor, and control CNC machines & manual processes.

Complete critical records on the product and process - including inspection, sampling, testing, set up, housekeeping 5s and maintenance TPM.

Inspect and maintain the production equipment and control systems.

Maintain company health, safety, and environmental standards.

Assist in creation of SOP’s, risk assessments, COSHH, PUWER and training packages.

Have some knowledge or interactions with Lean tools as in Kaizen, VSM & PFMEA.

Able to Specify material requirements, defining suitable methods of manufacture and identifying, and implementing necessary tooling and equipment.

Assist in validation projects and Improvement activities.

Ensure good manufacturing practices are maintained via good documentation.

Participate in all required company safety, training and quality audits as required.

Accurate record keeping and good housekeeping.

Ensure training record is kept up to date and modules completed on time.

Qualifications and Experience

Skills:

CAD CAM interface to CNC machinery (Alpha CAM).

Good CNC knowledge and interactions

Responsible for increasing manufacturing productivity across the site.

Review existing production processes and identify areas of improvement.

Ability to work as part of a team, but also be self-driven & self-motivated to achieve targets

Adaptability and commitment.

Good communication skills, good team worker, flexible, able to work under pressure.

Desirable skills and experience:

Degree or HND/HNC in mechanicalengineering or a similar discipline.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in aManufacturing engineering role, ideally in a mechanical capacity or design environment (Solid Works).

Experience reading and interpretingengineering drawings.

Experience in Lean manufacturing toolsand techniques.

Experience of ISO/ASTM standards would beadvantageous.

Experience in project planning, delivery and problem solving.
