Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Manager to lead water asset design projects across the UK. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams to deliver within scope, time and budget, ensuring strong commercial control and client satisfaction.

Key capabilities include delivering infrastructure programmes, managing NEC contracts, and applying rigorous risk, scheduling and cost controls. The role supports flexible, hybrid working with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with NEC contracts or related accreditation.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as APM, PMI or ICE.
  • Proficient with PM tools and stakeholder management.

Job description

The Project Manager will lead the delivery of water asset design projects across the UK, managing multi‑disciplinary teams and ensuring successful completion within scope, time and budget.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project proposals including determining project requirements, scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates for delivering the project.
  • Own the P&L with associated commercial and financial accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination and attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
  • Develop project management documentation including project plans, cost estimates and forecasts, risk registers, project schedules, stakeholder registers, project organisation charts, etc. to successfully deliver the project objectives.
  • Monitor and control the project schedule, manhours, budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
  • Ensure effective contract management including contract administration and change management.
  • Manage work performed by project team members (including assistant PMs), assuring outputs meet the project requirements.
  • Manage project deliverables, information, and records.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the project team and customer.
  • Anticipate and take pre‑emptive action to address issues and potential conflict situations that may impact on project delivery.
  • Lead multi‑disciplinary project teams consisting of technical/professional staff and suppliers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in the delivery of infrastructure projects (exposure within the regulated water industry and/or non‑regulated water projects highly advantageous but not essential).
  • Working knowledge or accreditation in NEC supported with the necessary technical and practical skills to administer NEC Contracts.
  • Membership of professional institutions such as the Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI) or the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE).
  • Proficiency in the use of project management tools and software.
  • Demonstrated competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling and commercial management.
