Job description

Role Overview

Our Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector as well as the non‑regulated (industrial/international) sector. Clients include some of the largest water companies in the UK and contractors working in the sector. We deliver wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes, supporting other related industries. Projects range from routine network maintenance to large‑scale water projects, with a team distributed across the UK and support from an outsourced team in India.

We are recruiting a Project Manager to join our Water team in Belfast to lead the delivery of multidisciplinary projects from optioneering through to delivery and handover to the client.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project proposals, determining requirements, scope, resources, programme and cost estimates (budgets) for delivery.
  • Own the P&L with commercial and financial accountability, including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
  • Develop project management documentation such as plans, cost estimates, forecasts, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers and organisation charts to ensure successful delivery of objectives.
  • Monitor and control project schedule, man‑hours, budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
  • Ensure effective contract management, including administration and change management.
  • Manage work performed by project team members, ensuring outputs meet project requirements.
  • Manage project deliverables, information and records.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the team and the customer.
  • Anticipate and take pre‑emptive action to address issues and potential conflict situations that could impact delivery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams consisting of technical/professional staff and suppliers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects; exposure to regulated or non‑regulated water projects is highly advantageous.
  • Working knowledge or accreditation in NEC contracts, with the necessary technical and practical skills to administer them.
  • Membership of professional institutions such as the Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI) or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Demonstrated competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling and commercial management.
