Job description

We are working with a local authority to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead a critical change programme focused on reducing the number of households placed into temporary accommodation. This is a high-impact role supporting service transformation, improving triage and move-on processes, and embedding new ways of working across the housing needs service.

This role would suit a project manager with experience delivering change in a housing or homelessness setting, particularly around temporary accommodation, prevention, and service redesign. The successful candidate will be responsible for the final phase of the current project and supporting the development of the next phase of work following a service review.

This position is available on a hybrid basis, with flexibility for remote working. However, attendance at key meetings in Bristol is required, including being on site for the first day.

The Role
Lead the final delivery phase of a service transformation project aimed at reducing temporary accommodation placements
Oversee the successful implementation and handover of new structures, processes, and teams to operational housing staff
Work closely with housing and homelessness services, ensuring changes are sustainable and benefits are realised through to September 2025
Support the development of a new project plan following an upcoming review and contribute to scoping future improvements
Coordinate internal stakeholders across housing, prevention, triage, and move-on services
Monitor progress against key milestones, track outcomes, and report to senior leadership
Facilitate change management activity and ensure smooth integration of new ways of working
Support recruitment, training and team development as part of the handover

Key Requirements
Proven track record of project management in a local authority or public sector setting
Experience managing transformation or change programmes in housing, homelessness or temporary accommodation services
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across services
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities to deliver results
Solid understanding of housing needs, temporary accommodation pressures, and homelessness prevention pathways
Flexibility to attend meetings on-site in Bristol as required
