MJ Consulting Engineers is a specialist structural engineering consultancy with over 25 years of expertise, working across the unique and fast-paced world of UK theatres. Our work ranges from iconic theatre redevelopments and major show installations to smaller projects such as signage and lighting structures. MJC is part of the Structural Engineering Alliance Group (SEAG), a collective of esteemed engineering firms, each distinguished in its respective field, united by a shared vision of pioneering progress.

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong engineering background to join our London team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys balancing project leadership with technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
  • Lead and coordinate design teams, ensuring smooth collaboration between engineers, designers, contractors, and clients.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring all technical and quality standards are met.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring their requirements are understood and delivered.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, while ensuring seamless delivery to tight deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project processes and delivery methods.

About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Civil, Structural, or a related Engineering discipline (essential).
  • Proven experience managing engineering or structural projects in the UK, ideally within construction, structural design, or specialist sectors like theatre, entertainment, or event structures.
  • Knowledge of temporary works or specialist structural design for installations.
  • Understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Strong technical understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, design teams, and contractors.
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and technical outputs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
