Job description

Are you a Site Agent ready to step up into a Project Manager role?

Do you have experience in self-delivery of heavy civils and bulk earthworks schemes?

Jones Bros Civil Engineering is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead major civil engineering schemes across Scotland. Based primarily on site, you’ll report to the Contracts Manager and Contracts Director and play a central role in the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

We don’t just oversee subcontractors, we self-deliver our work, and we’re looking for a Project Manager who wants to lead from the front.

You’ll be expected to travel across Scotland with overnight stays required depending on site location. In return, we offer excellent lodge allowances for working away from home, along with the opportunity to manage impactful schemes and further your career within a growing business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the delivery of major civil engineering projects from mobilisation to completion.
  • Manage Works Managers, Site Agents, Engineers, and the Quality team to drive progress and maintain standards.
  • Champion a “safety first” culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement HSEQ documentation including RAMS, quality plans, and environmental controls.
  • Take full ownership of programme delivery, budgets, and reporting from CVRs to final handover.
  • Procure and manage plant, labour, materials, and subcontractors, ensuring performance and value.
  • Interpret technical drawings and client specifications to guide accurate on-site delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and proactively resolve operational and contractual issues.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, sharing knowledge and building internal capability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC contracts and project delivery standards.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and subcontractor performance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, planning tools (e.g. Project 2000), and digital costing/reporting systems.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Skilled communicator and leader with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel and work across the UK with overnight stays as required.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Why Join Jones Bros?
