A leading EPC firm specializing in complex medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure across North America is seeking a Project Manager to lead high-voltage substation and transmission projects, including those involving renewable energy and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is responsible for overseeing all project phases to ensure successful delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
Role Overview:
The Project Manager will direct substation and transmission line projects, with a focus on renewable energy and BESS initiatives. Responsibilities include comprehensive project oversight—planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource coordination. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and budget
- Develop, monitor, and control project budgets and contracts, collaborating with finance to forecast costs
- Serve as the main contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams, providing regular updates and reports
- Identify and mitigate project risks, escalating issues as needed
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements
- Offer strategic input on project planning and execution, supporting decision-making and client relationships
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management practices and tools
Qualifications- At least 2 years of project management experience, particularly with high-voltage substation or transmission projects in an EPC setting
- Experience with grid integration, energy storage, and energy management systems preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Project Management, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience)
- MBA, PMP certification, or PE license preferred
Skills- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects
- Solid understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, substations, and transmission lines
- Familiarity with renewable energy and energy storage technologies, including grid integration
- Advanced project management skills: budgeting, scheduling, risk, and contract management
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement
- Strategic thinker with sound decision-making abilities
