Job description

About Us

My client are a leader in transforming complex urban environments into safer, more inclusive, and digitally advanced spaces. Our work spans regulated infrastructure sectors including rail, transport, and public space development. With a growing portfolio of multi-year capital programmes across the UK - including rail and telecoms infrastructure - they deliver projects that shape the future of cities.

They are now looking for a strong Project Manager to lead a pioneering infrastructure initiative: the world’s first full LED tunnel corridor transformation across a major transport network.

Job Description

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a high-profile, multi-site infrastructure project within a regulated transport environment. Working from concept through to handover, your focus will be managing the delivery of a highly technical and stakeholder-intensive programme. The initiative spans five major sites across a key urban transit network and is intended to set global standards in inclusive, sustainable infrastructure.

This is not a typical maintenance project—it requires someone with proven experience in change and capital delivery. You’ll be central to managing internal teams, specialist contractors, political and access groups, and safety authorities to bring a shared vision to life.

You’ll work alongside Project Engineers, Planners, and Commercial Managers to ensure every element meets safety, compliance, stakeholder, and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own full lifecycle delivery of a capital works programme from initiation to handover.

  • Ensure delivery to time, cost, quality and safety standards—within NEC3 or NEC4 contractual frameworks.

  • Interpret technical drawings and civil schematics with confidence to aid decision-making and oversight.

  • Manage diverse stakeholder groups including suppliers, engineering, assurance, political advisory groups, access representatives, and transport authorities.

  • Lead regular site visits including occasional night shifts (with time-in-lieu), ensuring build quality and health & safety compliance under CDM 2015.

  • Chair cross-functional meetings and drive alignment across engineering, commercial, and planning functions.

  • Mitigate risk and manage change proactively across multiple workstreams and stakeholder environments.

  • Produce and maintain high-quality project documentation aligned with internal governance and partner methodologies.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager delivering CAPEX or infrastructure programmes, ideally in regulated sectors (e.g., rail, London Underground, Crossrail, HS2, or nuclear).

  • Demonstrated success managing stakeholder-heavy, technical projects with high visibility.

  • Experience with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts (essential); understanding of construction and civils delivery in live transport environments.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations including CDM 2015, with a safety-first mindset.

  • Able to interpret technical/civil drawings (no design required but must understand context and implications).

  • Familiar with standards and regulatory expectations in rail or equivalent safety-led industries.

  • Qualifications such as Prince2, APM, or similar are desirable; NEC experience is preferred over certification.

  • Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills; able to simplify complex stakeholder relationships into structured plans and decisions.

Other
  • Minimum 3 days/week required on-site in Holborn, plus 2 remote days.

  • Night working will be necessary during installation phases; time off in lieu is provided the following day.

  • Flexible career development: opportunities exist across other major frameworks in transport, rail, and telecoms beyond the current programme.
