Job description

Temp Job - Project Manager - Prison Maintenance

A large FM and Maintenance contractor, responsible for managing the contract for the Ministry of Justice to maintain UK Prisons, has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join the team covering the south. This is a temporary role for 3-6 months, with the possibility of review thereafter. Security vetting is required, so a clean criminal record is essential.

The Role

This position is home-based with daily site visits to various prison locations in the Basingstoke, Southampton, and Portsmouth areas. You will oversee a large number of maintenance and FM projects across the Prison estate. As a Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering projects safely and without risk.

Your responsibilities include managing safety, CDM, issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and timely project delivery. Specific duties include:

  1. Meeting with senior management and clients to track delivery timelines and costs.
  2. Developing detailed project plans and revising them based on evolving needs.
  3. Assigning project tasks based on team members' skills and experience.
  4. Monitoring project performance for timely completion.
  5. Preparing and submitting project status reports to stakeholders.
  6. Collaborating effectively with all stakeholders for smooth project implementation.
  7. Enhancing leadership, customer relations, and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
About You

You should be an experienced construction/maintenance Project Manager, preferably with a background in refurbishment and small works construction. Experience managing diverse sectors is advantageous.

  • Degree or NVQ Level 6 qualification in construction, management, or engineering.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH and SMSTS certifications.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations.

This role is available with PAYE or Umbrella PAYE options—NO CIS.
