The primary purpose of the NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager is to lead the engagement and delivery of the North – South Service Tunnel and Enabling Works packages of work in support of the Devonport programme as directed by the Project Manager – 5BEWC&S Civils Lead, Civils & Infrastructure Programme Manager, and Programme Director. The NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager will plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate all aspects of the NSST and Enabling Works civils packages contained within the dockyard, taking delegated responsibility for their delivery against schedule and budget to the required quality standard. The NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager is responsible for line management of a team who will support the NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager in delivery of the NSST and Enabling Works civils packages contained within the project. The NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager has the responsibility to coordinate the delivery of the civils construction work they are responsible for, ensuring it is undertaken without undue risk to health, safety, security, and the environment. The NSST & Enabling Works Package Manager will support the stakeholder interface managing the package providing all information required to coordinate the site delivery but also contribute towards the time, cost and quality performance of the delivery including the required contributions to Project Controls and the reporting cycle.

  • Ensure Construction and Nuclear Processes are implemented accordingly throughout the pre-construction and construction phases.

  • Accountable for delivery of the project to the baseline schedule, cost and performance in line with project and business success criteria following the MIP Vision and Strategy.

  • Commitment to and the ongoing monitoring of project baseline (cost/schedule/risk).

  • Controlling project costs such that the project outputs are provided within the agreed budget.

  • Facilitate, develop, and agree requirements, project scope and solutions for specific outputs and work packages

  • Delivery of key management functions in support of the overall project delivery, including schedule, financial and risk functions.

  • Responsible for forming and managing effective relationships with project stakeholders to achieve the desired project outcomes.

  • Determination of the requirements and delivery of the work associated with the 5 Basin and associated work packages

  • To implement and comply with the project SHE requirements and legal obligations

  • Manage the planning, monitor and control of work packages being delivered.

  • Undertake learning and implement improvement opportunities, share knowledge within the team and wider Estate.

  • Manage the identification, assessment, planning and implementation of risks, opportunities and issues.

  • Line management duties as appropriate.

You’ll need to have:

  • Demonstrable experience in civil engineering/construction and project management, with a proven ability to lead complex projects of complexity or assist in managing complex projects. Project Managers may also lead small groups of non-complex projects. Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar environment/business sector.

  • Related Civil Engineering Degree, HND or equivalent

  • Comprehensive experience in a similar role

  • Excellent work ethic

  • CSCS Card

  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification

  • Working knowledge of NEC forms of Contract and CEMAR

  • Committed to working in the Southwest fulltime.

  • Experienced in Procurement of temp and perm services

  • Time management and organisational skills.

  • Strong influencing and people management skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Track record in working in a regulated industry - Rail/ Aviation etc.

You’ll also have:

  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.

  • Property or infrastructure project management expertise.

  • Commercial and financial acumen.

  • Experience of working on projects within large, diverse teams.

  • Experience of developing and forming relationships with other stakeholders within projects.

  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
