The Project Manager-Interior Renovations, Workplace Planning role will specialise in the overall construction delivery and implementation of Northern Trust's workplace strategy, ensuring that all user and corporate requirements are met.
The role will be based in London but will support projects across EMEA and APAC.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing pre-design, design, construction, and commissioning services within budget, scope, and schedule.
- Leading projects from an internal client perspective, coordinating stakeholders including internal clients, facilities management, global engineering, security, IT, communications, and change management.
- Controlling project costs, schedules, and quality assurance from design to project closeout.
- Anticipating potential problems and identifying solutions.
- Ensuring projects adhere to scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Maintaining records and producing reports and presentations.
- Leading project teams, including technical disciplines, consultants, construction teams, and support staff.
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, and internal teams on scope, cost, and schedules.
- Managing project closeouts, punch lists, and snagging.
- Ensuring procurement compliance, reviewing payments, and monitoring invoices.
- Obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
- Guiding selection of design professionals, preparing scopes of work, interviewing vendors, and evaluating credentials.
- Monitoring project funding, cash flow, and financial performance.
- Managing critical milestones to avoid delays.
- Reviewing proposals and pricing.
Supporting business goals by:
- Building relationships with stakeholders and aligning project requirements.
- Presenting to end-user groups and reporting to senior management.
- Applying change management strategies.
- Guiding architectural and workplace solutions.
- Using judgment based on multi-source information.
- Impacting customer, operational, and service activities.
- Mentoring colleagues.
- Leveraging corporate standards.
- Coordinating with internal partners like IT, Security, AV.
Candidate skills and experience:
- Willingness to travel.
- Experience managing multiple design and construction projects independently.
- Financial management skills, including estimates and negotiations.
- Ability to review construction drawings.
- Experience with long and short-term projects.
- Team management and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency with project management tools.
- Coordination skills across departments and agencies.
- Self-motivated, proactive, client-focused, results-oriented.
- Technical knowledge of project management, cost control, budgeting, scheduling.
- Understanding of facilities implications.
- Proven track record with high-profile projects, typically USD $3MM in size.
- RFP and contract negotiation experience.
- Vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of LEED or BREEAM preferred.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Interior Design, or Architectural Design is a plus.
