Project Manager - In Service Support - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £49,000 - £70,000 per annum

AWE is recruiting an enthusiastic and adaptable Project Manager to join our team. Location: RG7 4PR, at our Aldermaston site, with free onsite parking. Package: Starting at £49,830 (depending on suitability, qualifications, and experience). Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Flexible working requests will be considered to accommodate your lifestyle.

Let us introduce the role: As a Project Manager, you will engage with engineers and the DNO regarding engineering projects that directly influence our core business. You will be responsible for delivering assigned projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, in compliance with AWE processes.

The role may also involve applying your skill sets within nuclear programmes and projects to support the delivery of the AWE mission. Project Managers are expected to work in roles requiring awareness and compliance with nuclear license conditions. You will likely manage multiple projects simultaneously with stakeholders across the enterprise.

Who are we looking for?

We seek an adaptable individual with a proven background in project management. In this role, you will:

  • Manage projects focusing on governance (compliance and reporting)
  • Manage project resources (people, budget)
  • Lead project planning
  • Support and initiate changes against the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB)
  • Identify and act on risks and opportunities
  • Engage with various stakeholders at all levels

The company may require you to undertake other reasonable duties aligned with your position and business needs. Ideally, you will have experience in some of the following:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body
  • Experience in engineering projects
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Ability to interpret charts, spreadsheets, schedules, and technical drawings
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to present to peers and senior managers
  • Ability to motivate teams and foster morale

You should be able to work calmly and constructively in a changing environment, manage your workload, and demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
