Job Title: Project Manager - (HV Substations)
Location: UK-Wide (Hybrid: 1-2 days on site / Remote)
Contract Type: Permanent
Department: Energy Infrastructure Projects

Role Summary:

Our client is currently seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Manager to join their thriving T&D Construction Division on a Permanent basis.

The Project Manager will lead & manage the successful delivery of energy infrastructure projects (including National Grid), ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

The Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders across the project lifecycle-from planning and permitting to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and deliver infrastructure projects including substations, high-voltage transmission lines, renewable energy integration, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Lead project teams including engineers, consultants, contractors, and support staff throughout the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Manage scope, schedule, cost, and quality performance in alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee risk identification and mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain project management plans, schedules (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), budgets, and progress reports.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement, including utilities, regulatory authorities, landowners, communities, and internal departments.
  • Ensure adherence to contract terms (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and coordinate change control and claims management as needed.
  • Support the procurement process, including tender evaluation and contractor selection.
  • Monitor project performance through KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead project reviews and ensure proper documentation and handover at project close-out.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience managing large-scale infrastructure or utility projects, ideally in the energy sector.
  • Previous knowledge and experience of delivering HV Substations projects for National Grid, SSE, SPEN, or DNO's (132kv - 400kv).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Jira, MS Project).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Site (1-2 days) then WFH with occasional visits to HQ in Stafford.
  • Company Car or Car Allowance supplied.
  • May require working extended hours to meet project deadlines.
