Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking an experienced site investigation professional to lead and manage ground investigation projects across London and the South East. You will oversee planning, delivery, and coordination of fieldworks, ensuring safety, quality, and client alignment from inception to completion.

The role requires strong knowledge of geotechnical methods, annual reporting, and effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related subject.
• Completion of recognised health and safety qualifications, including CSCS (Manager Level), SMSTS, CDM 2015 Regulations training, PTS certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Managing site investigation projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing RAMS and Programmes of Work, including financial and cost management.
• Supervising field operations and managing plant, equipment, and materials.
• Undertaking soil and rock logging according to industry standards.
• Planning, programming, and overseeing day-to-day project activities.
• Managing subcontractors and specialist service providers.
• Monitoring progress against programme targets and cost control.
• Preparing and submitting Applications for Payment.
• Compiling and issuing project deliverables, technical data, and reports.
• Liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.

Job description

The Role

You will play a key role in the preparation, delivery, and management of site investigation projects, overseeing works from initial planning through to successful completion.

The position will primarily involve working on Concept's projects across London and the South East of England, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing site investigation projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing project-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Programmes of Work, including financial and cost management programmes.
• Supervising and coordinating field operations, including the procurement and management of project-related plant, equipment, and materials.
• Undertaking soil and rock logging in accordance with current industry standards.
• Planning, programming, and overseeing day-to-day project activities.
• Managing subcontractors and specialist service providers to ensure successful delivery of project scopes.
• Monitoring project progress against programme targets and maintaining effective cost control.
• Preparing and submitting Applications for Payment.
• Compiling, managing, and issuing project deliverables, technical data, and reports.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed successfully and to a high standard.
• Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the company's business management systems, procedures, and health and safety requirements.

Education & Training

Essential

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.

Desirable

• Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related subject.
• Completion of recognised health and safety qualifications, including:
• CSCS (Manager Level)
• SMSTS
• CDM 2015 Regulations training
• PTS certification or a willingness to obtain certification.

Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• A minimum of 10 years' relevant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of a range of site investigation techniques.
• Excellent understanding of ground investigation specifications, procedures, and methodologies.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocode 7, industry codes of practice, and ICE/NEC contract administration.
• Experience using borehole logging and geotechnical data management software for data presentation and report production.
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting, communication, documentation, and data management.
