Job description

Salary:

The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Marlowe House (the role will require travel to various sites in UK due to nature of work)

About Fleet Services

The police vehicle fleet is an important physical asset. It enables officers and staff to do their job, carries key equipment required, and provides safe transportation for the public / prisoners.

We operate a fleet of over 5,200 assets on the road and river, as well as over 1,000 pedal cycles. We currently have over 220 different types of vehicles supporting all operational commands.

The programmes or projects will be varied, including:

  • Replacement of core vehicles
  • Procurement, conversion and implementation of specialist vehicles
  • Design, procurement and implementation of new service contracts
  • Implementation of site based changes at specialist workshops
  • Procurement, design and implementation of new IT software/systems
  • Design and implementation of Fleet Operating Model changes.

Key responsibilities in the role

  • Programme / Project Delivery – oversee and lead either small programmes or a portfolio of projects, providing leadership and drive in order to deliver
  • Lifecycle responsibility - Maintain full lifecycle ownership from initiation / design to full implementation
  • Risk & Issue Management - Identify and manage disruption to project / programme delivery in a timely manner and escalate through the correct governance channels
  • Technical / Policy / Regulation management - Apply engineering principles and construction and use regulations and police exemptions to ensure all vehicle conversions and modifications are safe and technically compliant.
  • Team direction and management – Direct and coordinate any resources involved in the programme / projects. Lead project huddles and reviews.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communications - Lead on the engagement with officers, staff and external key stakeholders
  • Reporting - Develop and implement processes for reporting and monitoring programme / project initiatives
  • Financial management – be responsible for the finances of the programmes / projects, ensuring accurate forecasting and managing to budget.
