Project Manager - Fire Detection / Suppression

Location: Alton, Hampshire

Type: Full-time

Salary: £29,000 - £35,000 per annum plus annual commission/bonuses

About our client: They are the UK's leading provider of data centre gas-operated suppression systems and equipment. As a UK SME, they specialise in fire suppression, offering services from fully managed solutions to consultancy. Established in 2015, they boast over 80 years of combined fire engineering experience.

About the job: The Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating projects to meet strategic business objectives, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. This involves planning, executing, and monitoring projects, managing resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations. The role acts as a central communication point, fostering collaboration and aligning project goals with organisational priorities. The position also focuses on innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement to deliver measurable outcomes and contribute to business success.

The Project Manager will work on Fire Alarms, Gas Suppression, Watermist, Fixed Installations, Aspirating, and other specialist detection systems, including pressure relief, gas extraction, and smoke management.

Ensure all materials, equipment, and resources comply with British Standards (e.g., BS 5306, BS 8433, BS EN 15004, BS6266, BS5839, BS7671).

Experience / Skills / Competencies:

  • Proven 3-5 years' experience as a Project Manager, preferably in fire alarms, gas suppression, or similar industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire alarms, watermist, gas suppression, and related systems.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • Team player with effective communication across departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to undertake site visits and travel as required.
