Job summary

Manor Marine UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to lead planning, estimating and delivery of commercial vessel construction, refit, repair and maintenance projects at our Portland Port shipyard in Dorset.

This senior, hands-on role requires proven marine industry experience, strong cost control and stakeholder management, with hybrid working and some travel to client sites and events.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years managing or supervising shipyard projects with delivery responsibility.
• Significant marine industry experience across vessel construction, service, repair and refit.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
• Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Strong understanding of cost control, variations and commercial risk.
• Good written and spoken English, with sound mathematical ability.

Responsibilities

• Own the planning and delivery of allocated projects from enquiry to handover.
• Create and issue project plans covering milestones, objectives, resources and timescales.
• Monitor plans and ensure actions are completed to agreed timescales.
• Track progress through production, and ensure materials, equipment and resources are available when needed.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting cost, quality or programme; report progress, risks and commercial performance to the General Manager.
• Ensure checks, inspections and completion activities are carried out and recorded.
• Support commissioning, trials, acceptance and final handover.
• Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.

Location: Hybrid - Manor Marine UK Ltd, Portland Port, Dorset, UK.

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent, Hybrid.

Department: Senior Management.

Reports to: General Manager / Managing Director.

Pay: Competitive industry rate, dependent on skills and experience.

Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK.

WE ARE SEEKING an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to lead the planning, estimating and delivery of commercial vessel construction, refit, repair and maintenance projects.

This is a senior, hands‑on role requiring substantial marine industry experience. You'll develop accurate, commercially robust estimates, manage projects from enquiry through to completion, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, to specification and within budget, working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.

You'll be based at our shipyard in Portland Port, Dorset. Hybrid working is a possibility, with occasional travel to visit customers, offsite projects and events. The role may occasionally require working outside of usual hours, including at the weekend, to meet project and customer requirements, or whilst attending an event.

Project Management & Delivery

HSEQ

• Implement Manor Marine's Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures for all work under your control.
• Ensure risk assessments, method statements and permits are in place and followed.
• Initiate and record safety inspections, and report hazards, incidents, near misses and non‑conformances.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure work meets applicable legislation, company procedures and customer requirements.

What We're Looking For
