Job Description

Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy in the Energy and Natural Resources sector. We are seeking a Project Manager to lead a high-profile, London-based Energy Infrastructure project.

We are interested in candidates with experience in Power and Energy, or other major infrastructure sectors like rail, highways, aviation, and utilities.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To lead project management commissions, overseeing end-to-end service delivery, especially for large or complex projects.

To support major project management commissions by managing specific aspects of service delivery.

To ensure client objectives are met, and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Scope:

Project Managers handle projects of varying sizes, typically between £1m to £10m, but larger projects are possible. Candidates should be comfortable managing small to medium complexity projects independently, with support from the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising at a strategic level at project inception, including approach selection to achieve client objectives.
  • Defining project requirements and success criteria.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes, and systems.
  • Creating and maintaining project schedules and plans.
  • Managing project development according to approved plans.
  • Developing resource and procurement plans.
  • Leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitoring performance using KPIs and managing change control.
  • Budget management and cost control.
  • Facilitating communication between the team and client.
  • Identifying risks and planning mitigation strategies.
  • Preparing progress reports and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Advising on health, safety, and environmental issues.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Delivering positive change, innovation, and value addition.
  • Demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowing when to act independently or seek support.
  • Building confidence and performance within the team.
  • Creating effective plans and considering impacts on clients, communities, and environment.
  • Managing projects to quality, time, and budget standards.
  • Leading project teams effectively and developing strong client relationships.
  • Monitoring financial status and managing project data effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a construction or energy-related field.
  • Working towards chartership with APM, ICE, RICS, or similar professional bodies.
