Job Description:

We Build Recruitment are now looking to recruit for a Project Manager on behalf of our client, a leading Independent Connection Provider specialising in high-voltage electrical connections.

Role Overview

The role of Project Manager is to oversee and deliver connection projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven project management expertise, and a deep understanding of ICP operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the end-to-end delivery of connection projects (from 11kV up to 66kV), ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  2. Oversee project design, planning, procurement, and construction activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, DNO/IDNO requirements, and health & safety standards.
  3. Liaise with clients, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  4. Plan, lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, site managers, and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  5. Manage project risks, budgets, and schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues.
  6. Ensure adherence to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and all relevant legislation.
  7. Work closely with the project delivery team and project QS’s, providing weekly progress reports and following internal processes.
  8. Attend both internal and external project meetings with DNO’s, clients, and the internal delivery team.
  9. Problem solving decision making, to ensure that projects are run to program.
  10. Conduct site visits, audits, and quality assurance checks to maintain high standards of delivery.
  11. Provide technical support and guidance on electrical systems, connections, and commissioning.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience managing projects within an ICP, DNO, or utility contractor environment.
  2. Strong understanding of HV electrical infrastructure, including substations, cabling, transformers, and switchgear.
  3. Knowledge of DNO/IDNO standards and regulations, including G99, G100, and ENA Engineering Recommendations.
  4. Project management expertise, including budget control, scheduling, and risk management.
  5. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  6. Able to work as part of a team and assist on other projects where required.
  7. Strong leadership skills.
  8. Working knowledge of health & safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
  9. Full UK driving licence.
  10. HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  11. Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status.
