Role Title: Project Manager - EC&I

Location: Derby, Manchester, Warrington

Employment type: Full-time | Salary: £48,000 - £62,500 DOE | Closing date: 30/09/2025

This role, reporting to a Senior Project Manager, will provide project management support to a dedicated project or programme of work with a strong engineering, procurement, construction and/or regulatory focus related to the development of a new nuclear power station. The role involves working closely with EC&I engineering design teams and the Procurement & Supply Chain team to manage on-time and on-budget delivery for EC&I systems and component design. A high level of project and programme management experience is required, with an EC&I and project delivery focus.

The role forms part of the Systems project management team within the wider Generic Product Development Programme Management team. Strong interpersonal skills and proven collaboration across Engineering, Procurement & Supply Chain and Programme Management functions are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of own projects.
  • Keep project plans up to date with support from Project Planners.
  • Manage regular updates of financial forecasts with support from Cost Engineers.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to understand performance and status of deliverables.
  • Report performance and escalate issues to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Create a positive and productive environment within the project team and across functions.
  • Document and apply lessons learned to future work.
  • Review and manage project risks with actionable mitigations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with project management processes and procedures.
  • Support meetings with external stakeholders as required.

Key Selection Criteria

Project management

  • Knowledge: Familiar with project management methodologies, risk management, budget management, and change management.
  • Experience: Proven experience delivering complex engineering projects (multi-year, multi-£M) and setting up schedules and budgets to monitor performance.
  • Skills: Planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change management.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, ARM, SAP, Excel, Power BI, and Power Apps (training available for gaps).

Technical Experience

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles relevant to the projects; regulatory experience is advantageous (licensing/consenting, working with government bodies, or complex regulatory environments).

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

  • Experience influencing and communicating effectively across all levels and with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Industry Knowledge

  • Understand SMR industry, regulatory environment, competitive landscape, and recent trends.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: £48,000 - £62,500 DOE plus:

  • Bonus – 12.5% performance-related
