The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Earthworks to join our project team for the Hinksey Project in Oxford, a technically complex and high-value scheme for National Grid.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of this complex and high-profile project, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, on time and within budget.

As Project Manager, you will:

  • Lead the earthworks portion of the project, managing resources, budget, and project timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.
  • Coordinate the use of plant, machinery, and personnel to ensure project milestones are met efficiently.
  • Oversee subcontractors and liaise with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor and control project costs, providing regular financial updates to senior management.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Oversee the quality control of all earthworks operations and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Contribute to the development of project plans and strategies in collaboration with other senior team members.

Who You Are

You bring strong civil engineering experience, particularly in earthworks, from Tier 1 or major infrastructure projects. You have a track record of managing large-scale civil engineering projects and are confident overseeing teams and subcontractors in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Skills:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience managing large-scale earthworks or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and experience with contract administration.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices on-site.
  • Salary up to £80,000 per annum (based on experience)
