Step Ahead Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Data Centre Project Manager to lead physical IT infrastructure projects in live data centre environments. The role combines planning, delivery and stakeholder liaison across customers, engineers and suppliers in a hybrid UK-based setting with travel to sites as required.

You will own projects from initiation to completion, developing schedules and budgets, tracking progress, and ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the required

Data Centre Project Manager

Berkshire | Hybrid working with UK travel

£50,000–£70,000 basic plus bonus

Are you an experienced Data Centre Project Manager with a strong track record of successfully delivering physical IT infrastructure projects within live data centre environments?

We are working with a growing IT infrastructure services business looking to strengthen its project delivery team. You will take ownership of technical projects from planning through to successful completion, working closely with customers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.

The role

• Manage data centre and physical IT infrastructure projects from planning through to successful completion.
• Understand project scope, technical requirements and customer expectations.
• Attend customer sites and carry out site surveys where required.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets and resource requirements.
• Coordinate internal engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and other delivery resources.
• Manage project risks, dependencies, issues and changes throughout delivery.
• Manage customer communication and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor quality, cost, timescales and scope.
• Ensure projects are delivered effectively within live data centre environments.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and delivery updates.
• Recommend improvements to project delivery, efficiency, quality and profitability.

About you

• Substantial experience delivering physical IT infrastructure projects within live data centre environments.
• Proven end-to-end technical project management experience.
• Broad knowledge of data centre relocations, hardware installations, decommissioning, racks and structured cabling.
• Experience managing project budgets, resources, suppliers, subcontractors and risks.
• Strong customer-facing, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A practical understanding of the challenges and risks involved in delivering work within live data centre environments.
• Highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing projects with limited supervision.

Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM or PMP would be advantageous but are not essential. Practical experience and a successful track record of delivery are more important.
