Job summary

Morgan Philips Group is seeking a Cyber Security Project Manager in Stevenage to lead end‑to‑end delivery of cyber initiatives, ensuring scope, timescales, costs and business outcomes are achieved. You will report to a Programme Manager and coordinate with business stakeholders, technical teams and suppliers to ensure governance and effective execution.

This 12‑month contract, inside IR35, pays £700‑£750 per day.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects within cyber or technology environments.
  • Familiarity with cyber industry frameworks and controls (NIST, CIS, ISO).
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance and controls.
  • Experience creating project plans, schedules, and RAID logs.
  • Experience managing stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Experience managing budgets, risks and dependencies.
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience operating within a PMO, Programme or Portfolio environment.

Responsibilities

Cyber Security - Project Manager - Stevenage in Hertfordshire/& London

Fundamental cyber and networking tools and controls experience is essential.

The Cyber Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects within the organisation's cyber portfolio, ensuring agreed scope, timescales, costs, quality standards and business outcomes are achieved. Reporting to a Programme Manager, the role leads the day-to-day management of projects through the full delivery lifecycle, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers and SPMO colleagues to ensure effective planning, governance, reporting and execution.

The role operates within the standards, frameworks and governance established by the SPMO and contributes to the successful delivery of strategic change initiatives across the organisation.

Project Planning & Delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects from initiation through to closure.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, schedules and delivery roadmaps.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria.
  • Ensure project activities remain aligned to approved business cases and programme objectives.
  • Coordinate project resources and activities to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Manage project lifecycle activities including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure.
Governance & Controls
  • Apply PMO governance standards, methodologies and delivery controls.
  • Maintain project management documentation and audit trails.
  • Ensure project decisions, approvals and changes are appropriately documented.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to Programme Managers and governance forums.
  • Escalate issues, risks and decisions requiring intervention.
  • Participate in assurance reviews, audits and health checks as required.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
  • Maintain project RAID logs and associated action plans.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Monitor mitigation activities and ensure timely escalation where required.
  • Manage project interdependencies with other projects, programmes and business initiatives.
  • Support recovery planning where delivery performance is at risk.
Financial Management
  • Support project budget planning and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Track financial performance and highlight variances.
  • Manage financial risks and support business case controls.
  • Ensure project costs are accurately reported and forecast.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build effective working relationships with project sponsors, business representatives and delivery teams.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progress regularly.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops and decision-making forums.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand project objectives, risks, impacts and required actions.
  • Provide professional challenge where delivery commitments or expectations are unrealistic.
Resource & Delivery Coordination
  • Coordinate resources across project workstreams.
  • Track resource utilisation and identify capacity constraints.
  • Work with Resource Management teams to manage project resource requirements.
  • Support onboarding and mobilisation of project team members.
  • Facilitate collaboration across business, technology and supplier teams.

  • Support identification and tracking of project benefits and outcomes.
  • Ensure project deliverables contribute to agreed programme and portfolio objectives.
  • Work with business stakeholders to support transition into operational use.
  • Monitor delivery against success measures and acceptance criteria.
  • Support post-implementation reviews and lessons learned activities.
Continuous Improvement
  • Promote delivery best practices and adherence to SPMO standards.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development and maturity of project management practices.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging delivery methods, tools and techniques.
  • Share knowledge and experience across the wider SPMO community
Essential: Core skills, experience, qualifications and professional memberships you’ll need from day one
  • Experience managing projects within business change, transformation, technology or operational environments.
  • Familiarity with cyber industry frameworks and controls (NIST, CIS, ISO, CAF).
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance and controls.
  • Experience creating project plans, schedules, reports and RAID logs.
  • Demonstrable experience managing stakeholders across multiple functions.

  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience operating within a PMO, Programme or Portfolio environment.
Desirable: Other skills, experience, qualifications/professional memberships that will help you grow with us
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience within an SPMO, EPMO or Transformation Office.
  • Knowledge of MSP, MoP, Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience delivering technology-enabled transformation.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management and benefits realisation practices.
  • Knowledge of SFIA and P3M3 frameworks.
