A specialized civils contractor in London is seeking a motivated Project Manager to oversee projects from start to finish. This hands-on role involves managing tunnelling and drainage projects in a close-knit SME environment. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in civils, strong leadership skills, and relevant qualifications. This is a temp-to-perm position with a competitive rate of £450 per day.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or strong Construction Manager ready to step up.

Project Manager - Civil Engineering (Temp to Perm)

Location: Central London-based contractor, projects across the M25

Rate: £450 per day (initial contract with temp-to-perm opportunity)

The Company

We are working with a specialist civils contractor delivering tunnelling, shafts, paving, and heavy civils packages across London and the South East. With a strong reputation and a growing order book, they are seeking a motivated Project Manager to act as a key support to the owner and help drive project delivery.

The Role

This is a hands-on position in a close-knit SME environment. You will take ownership of projects from start to finish, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality. It\'s an excellent opportunity to step into a pivotal role and play a major part in the company\'s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage delivery of civils projects (tunnelling, shafts, paving, drainage, utilities).
  • Oversee programming, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Lead subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Provide regular reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support commercial functions including variations, valuations, and cost control.

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or strong Construction Manager ready to step up.
  • Background in civils projects (tunnelling, shafts, paving, utilities, drainage).
  • Good knowledge of programming and project delivery processes.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills - confident managing teams and resolving challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications: SMSTS, CSCS, NVQ Level 6, APM, Temporary Works (desirable).
