A civil engineering contractor in the UK is seeking a Project Manager to oversee £15m upgrades to a water treatment plant. The role requires a proven track record in managing large-scale water/wastewater infrastructure projects and expertise in NEC contracts. Responsibilities include budget control, progress tracking, and stakeholder engagement to ensure project delivery meets all compliance standards.
Brownlee Cale have an opening with a Civil Engineering contractor for a Project Manager overseeing 15m of upgrades to a water treatment plant under a NEC fixed-price contract.
Key Experience:
Proven track record delivering large-scale ( 10m+) water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of NEC contracts, particularly fixed-price arrangements.
Excellent commercial, programme, and risk management skills.
Strong technical understanding of water treatment processes and M&E systems.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Civil Engineering, Project Management, NEC accreditation).
Roles & Responsiblities:
Act as NEC Project Manager, administering the contract in full compliance with ECC fixed-price requirements.
Manage programme approval, progress tracking, and early warning processes to maintain schedule certainty.
Control project budget, oversee valuations, and manage compensation events in line with the contract.
Chair regular progress, risk, and stakeholder meetings, issuing timely records and instructions.
Oversee design development to ensure compliance with specification, regulations, and DWI standards.
Monitor construction quality and ensure robust inspection, testing, and commissioning processes.
Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance, meeting CDM 2015 duties.
Maintain the risk register, driving mitigation strategies to protect time, cost, and quality.
Provide accurate and timely reports to the client and stakeholders.
Resolve technical and contractual issues promptly, escalating when required.
Manage practical completion, handover, and defects period close-out, ensuring all deliverables are received.
Capture and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
