Alexander Associates is working in partnership with a highly regarded and forward-thinking consultancy in the renewable energy sector, supporting the search for a Civil Project Manager to join their expanding team based in Reading.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of renewable energy projects across the UK and beyond. The position offers exposure to feasibility studies, construction and operational monitoring, due diligence, asset management, and technical reporting – all within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with both clients and internal teams to ensure the successful planning, execution, and close-out of technically challenging and rewarding green energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Project Delivery

  • Manage renewable energy projects from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, timescales, and budgets.
  • Deliver feasibility assessments, operational performance reviews, and construction monitoring.
  • Produce high-quality client-facing reports, including due diligence, asset management plans, owners engineering support, and yield assessments.
  • Maintain open, regular communication with clients, aligning deliverables with expectations.

Project Management & Internal Coordination

  • Review and approve team timesheets using XERO to ensure accurate billing and cost tracking.
  • Send project kick-off emails and ensure the project team has access to all relevant documentation and templates.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between clients and project teams, maintaining visibility of key milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure consistent use of templates and proper documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Variation Management

  • Work alongside the Project Director and Finance team to manage any changes in scope, ensuring timely issue of variation orders.
  • Clearly communicate project implications to both internal teams and clients.

Project Close-Out

  • Lead the close-out process, ensuring deliverables are finalised, lessons learned captured, and financials reconciled.
  • Present close-out reports with a focus on project performance and outcomes.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Mentor junior project managers and engineers, encouraging professional development and best practices.
  • Promote team collaboration and high-quality outputs across all technical disciplines.

Key Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of project management experience in the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong background in feasibility assessments, asset management, and due diligence processes.
  • Proficient with renewable energy modelling tools (e.g. PVsyst, HOMER, SAM).
  • Solid command of project management software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Experienced with XERO or similar financial tools for timesheet and project tracking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to simplify technical detail.
  • Strong leadership, organisation, and analytical thinking.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
