Project Managers work across the full portfolio of Network Rails infrastructure investment, from minor renewals to complex multi-disciplinary programmes. They are accountable for managing the safe and effective delivery of all projects, ranging from low complexity single discipline to high complexity multi-disciplinary projects, to meet client requirements regarding time, cost, quality, and performance. An experienced Project Manager may be required to deliver a portfolio of smaller, lower complexity projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver Lift and Escalator renewal projects.
- Undertake assurance for project management activities.
- Implement relevant project management standards, processes, and procedures.
- Deliver specific programmes/projects on time, within budget, and according to other success criteria, following corporate guidelines.
- Produce investment plans for projects in accordance with Investment Regulations.
- Manage suppliers and staff effectively, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Manage cross-functional teams to deliver the capital Lift & Escalator programme of works.
- Identify and implement quality and efficiency improvements.
- Liaise with internal and external customers to meet their needs.
- Discharge Network Rail CDM related duties as required by company process.

Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for delivering complex projects or a portfolio of lower complexity projects safely, environmentally responsibly, on time, within budget, and to quality standards, in accordance with GRIP, Network Rail standards, legislation, and procedures.
- Support the project Sponsor in defining project requirements.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams to identify solutions and establish robust plans.
- Empower and inspire team members for project success.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Manage resource allocation, including securing necessary resources.
- Engage and lead stakeholder relationships, considering their influence and interests.
- Establish governance arrangements, roles, responsibilities, and conduct project reviews.
- Manage project scope changes and update configuration documents as needed.
- Manage and update business cases justifying projects.
- Undertake accident investigations as required.
Job Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Membership or working towards membership of the Association for Project Management.
- Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels.
- Experience in managing complex projects, including team management, planning, contracting, and delivery.
- Proven track record in project budget management and financial interpretation.
- Ability to manage ambiguity with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, safety management practices, and safety case development.
- Experience within the Rail Industry Sector, including application of PACE, CDM, and CSM.
