Project Manager - Astraea Programme - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £49,830 - £70,000 per annum

At AWE, we are in the process of a once-in-a-generation programme to design and produce a replacement warhead for the UK's continuous at-sea deterrent. We are seeking an adaptable and experienced Project Manager to join the Astraea Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-growing team on a highly complex and unique project.

Location: RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We consider flexible working requests to accommodate your lifestyle.

Package: Starting from £49,830, dependent on experience and suitability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering projects in accordance with requirements, constraints, time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team to meet operational and safety objectives.
  • Maintaining high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment is beneficial.
  • Graduate level qualification or equivalent experience, or Project Management practitioner qualification.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder motivation ability.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience creating project documentation and managing budgets, risks, and dependencies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools, KPIs, progress reporting, risk management, and lifecycle governance.
  • Problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and adaptable in a fast-paced setting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing projects with a focus on governance and compliance.
  • Managing resources including personnel and finances.
  • Leading planning and change initiatives.
  • Performing risk and opportunity management.

The role may involve up to 6 trips per year within the UK and overseas, subject to business needs. You should be able to work calmly in a dynamic environment, managing your workload effectively with a proactive attitude.
