Job description

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing projects that support the transformation and continuous improvement of activities and ways of working within the Assessment team. This includes scope definition, planning and scheduling, regular tracking and reporting (including budgets), and management of decisions, actions, risks, and issues. You will lead and proactively contribute to the implementation of best practices in project management processes and ensure project activities in ELT Assessment are consistent with those in the wider ELT Product teams and aligned with the ELT Strategy.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Project management of enabling projects within the Assessment portfolio: managing and leading major cross-functional projects from concept initiation to benefits delivery, including regular reporting and budget tracking.
  • Benefits management: identifying and assessing expected benefits derived from projects and process delivery, with support from the Portfolio Product Manager.
  • Change management: assessing the impact of change resulting from projects and contributing to communication and change plans; communicating change to stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Continuous improvement: identifying and contributing to the improvement of workflows and processes by managing change projects.
  • Project management best practice: ensuring consistency of tools and practices across teams by collaborating with internal and external project management colleagues.
  • Communication: facilitating effective communication between cross-functional teams with regular updates through streamlined channels.

We operate a hybrid working policy requiring at least 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Extensive experience managing large and complex projects and programmes proactively, including digital projects, within schedule and budget.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and facilitating communication across teams.
  • Knowledge of digital processes and workflows.
  • Willingness to learn about product development processes to integrate Assessment with Product teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Project or similar scheduling software.
  • Proficiency with Excel or other data management tools.
  • PRINCE2, Agile, APM, or other recognized project management certifications (desirable).
  • Experience setting up and implementing new workflows and processes (desirable).
  • Experience automating processes (desirable).
