Project Manager, site based

Location: Cambridge and surrounding rural areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

What you’ll do:

We are expanding our team and looking for a field-based Project Manager to support the Contract Delivery Manager in the Arb Utility division at Ground Control. This team manages tree trimming around power lines and pylons. You will be responsible for managing the operation for an assigned programme of tree works across the Cambridge area, driving programme delivery, meeting KPI targets, and overseeing our tree cutting teams.

This is a field-based role with approximately 4 days in rural locations and 1 day at home, varying based on weekly needs. A driving licence is required as you will regularly drive to remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure work is completed to high standards of safety, environment, quality, customer service, and profitability.
  • Drive consistency and innovation to make Ground Control the best in its field.
  • Conduct site surveys of assigned tree works in the Cambridge area and obtain landowner consents.
  • Maintain effective communication with your Project Coordinator and ensure timely project processing.
  • Report effectively to your Contract Delivery Manager.
  • Manage work allocation for your tree cutting teams and ensure optimal utilization.
  • Update and oversee the Work Programme, SD Programme, Held Up Programme, and planning checklists.
  • Resolve client-held-up spans to obtain necessary consents.

This role suits someone with basic field-based project management experience, possibly within the arb industry or related fields like surveying or operations. Experience in horticulture or practical tree work is beneficial but not essential.

  • Proficiency in IT.
  • Excellent team management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to prioritize and balance multiple demands.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
