Job summary

BlueLight Management is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead healthcare construction initiatives. The role starts in York on an NHS project, with travel to a diverse portfolio across the UK, supported by a hybrid on-site setup.

You will drive delivery across capital projects, coordinating design teams, clinicians, and contractors while ensuring NHS standards and safety compliance. This is a hands-on, field-focused position offering growth within a people-centric project team.

Qualifications

• Solid, demonstrable experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects, ideally in healthcare.
• Familiarity with RIBA stage delivery and NHS HTM/HBN guidance is desirable.
• Confident stakeholder communicator, able to engage site teams and clinical staff.
• Proficient with MS Project and SharePoint.
• Relevant degree in engineering, construction, project management or similar; PRINCE2 or equivalent is a plus.
• Chartered membership of CIOB, APM or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring the delivery of capital works and refurbishment projects through all RIBA stages, from feasibility to completion.
• Supporting design team coordination and engaging clinical and operational users.
• Supporting or leading on management of consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers.
• Preparing and maintaining risk registers, project reports and meeting documentation.

Project Manager – Healthcare Construction (York / London)

Location: York or London (Initial assignment: York – NHS Project)

Type: Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid (on-site)

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team, delivering capital and infrastructure projects across the healthcare sector. This is a hands‑on role for someone who has moved beyond the early stages of their career and is ready to take ownership of project delivery – but who is equally comfortable as part of a wider project team.

You will initially be assigned to a team working on an NHS project (based on site in York) for a minimum of six months. Following that, you will be deployed across our project portfolio, so a genuine willingness to travel – including regular overnight stays – is essential. Our Project Managers go where the work is, and we actively support all team members who are project‑assigned away from their home base.

What You Will Be Doing

• Monitoring the delivery of capital works and refurbishment projects through all RIBA stages, from feasibility to completion
• Supporting design team coordination and engaging clinical and operational users
• Supporting or leading on management of consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers
• Preparing and maintaining risk registers, project reports and meeting documentation
• Ensuring contractor compliance with client safety, quality and NHS technical standards
• Coordinating closely with operational teams to minimise disruption to live healthcare environments

What We Are Looking For

• Solid, demonstrable experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects – ideally in healthcare or another regulated environment
• Familiarity with RIBA stage delivery and NHS technical guidance (HTM/HBN awareness desirable)
• Confident stakeholder communicator, comfortable engaging from site teams and clinical staff to support project delivery
• Competent with standard project tools – MS Project, SharePoint etc
• A relevant degree or professional qualification (engineering, construction, project management or similar); PRINCE2 or equivalent methodology experience is a plus
• Chartered membership of CIOB, APM or equivalent is advantageous

The Person

You will have enough experience to manage a project independently and navigate complex environments, but you are not looking for a senior leadership or programme-level role. You are motivated by delivery, organised under pressure, and pragmatic when things don't go to plan. Critically, you are someone who understands that project work means being present where the project is.
