About this opportunity

We're searching for a project manager with experience delivering construction new build, refurbishment or fit-out projects to join our Bristol Project Management team. Based in Bristol city centre, just a 5 minute walk from Temple Meads station, you'll be joining a industry leading project management services in the South West.
You'll work with a range of clients across a variety of sectors, leading your own projects, as well as supporting on larger schemes & major programmes, collaborating with your teammates and colleagues across disciplines. Clients span local & central government, healthcare, universities and defence clients, as well as private commercial, residential and industrial developers and landlords.

Your key focus as project manager, will be delivery of construction projects from £1m - £100m+ as lead project manager or as part of a project management team, providing management, guidance and advice from early feasibility stages to handover and final account.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting Project Management Directors in delivering business objectives
  • Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Delivering high quality project management services ensuring they meet our Customer’s requirements.
  • Managing projects and/or programmes to deliver high quality services in accordance with the business procedures
  • Administering contracts as a contract administrator, employer’s agent or project manager.
  • Producing and presenting to customers
  • Identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the business units activities
  • Managing service delivery for profit.
  • Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or may arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

About You

Who we’re looking for

You will ideally have current or recent UK construction project management experience within a real estate, engineering or professional services consultancy. You will also ideally be a chartered member of the RICS, CIOB or APM.
If you don't hold a chartered membership, but hold sound UK construction project management experience, we'll be happy to consider your application for the position, and contact you for an initial discussion.

Additional, experience, knowledge and key skills we'd like to see:

  • Sound project management and/or programme management experience post qualification in the built environment.
  • Experience in the Education, Central Government, Industrial/manufacturing, Local Authority sectors beneficial.
  • Sound knowledge and practiced experience of project management techniques
  • Ability to administer construction contracts as Contract Administrator, Employer’s Agent and/or Project Manager. NEC/JCT experience beneficial.
  • Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Ability to lead meetings and manage outputs, tasks.
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
  • Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in use of planning programme tools (MSP/Asta).
  • Ability to manage teams both internal and external.

Qualifications

  • RICS, CIOB or APM accredited degree in a relevant subject (real estate, construction, surveying or project management)

Chartership (or working towards) either:

  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
  • MAPM (Member of the Association of Project Managers)
  • MCIOB (Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders)
