Job description

Southern Water is embarking on a transformative journey to ensure a resilient, sustainable, and future–proof water network across the South East. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the Design Phase of critical infrastructure and environmental projects that will shape the future of water for generations to come.

Your Role

As a Project Manager, you'll be at the forefront of turning strategic vision into technical reality. You will be responsible for driving forward the planning and development of capital projects, ensuring robust, sustainable, and cost–effective design solutions are delivered on time and aligned with Southern Water's AMP8 and long–term infrastructure goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multi–disciplinary teams through feasibility, concept, and detailed design stages
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, regulators, and delivery partners
• Manage budgets, timelines, and design approvals to ensure project readiness for construction
• Oversee risk, governance, and quality assurance in line with Southern Water standards
• Ensure that design outputs align with environmental, social, and compliance objectives

About You

• Proven project management experience, ideally within the water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors
• Strong understanding of the design lifecycle in capital projects (feasibility to handover)
• Experience with NEC contracts and managing external consultants
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• APM, PRINCE2, or similar project management qualification preferred
