Job summary

Group Metropolitan is seeking an experienced MEP Lead to ensure the safe, commercially successful, and timely delivery of assigned projects from estimating handover through to final completion and client sign-off. You will lead the project team, manage design, procurement strategy, programme delivery, and governance on site.

The role requires delivering complex construction or engineering projects, with data centre/critical facilities experience and electrical qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering complex construction or engineering projects.
  • Data Centre / Critical Facilities experience required.
  • Electrical relevant qualifications.
  • Mechanical knowledge desirable.
  • SMSTS.
  • CSCS Managers Card.
  • NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall project delivery in line with programme milestones.
  • Monitors site progress, quality & productivity through regular site engagement.
  • Chair project progress meetings with clients, consultants & subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the project team to ensure efficient delivery of construction activities.
  • Manage commissioning activities and ensure all testing and verification is completed.
  • Develop and maintain procurements schedule aligned with programme milestones.
  • Lead procurement of subcontractor packages and major equipment.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Negotiate commercial terms to achieve best value procurement.
  • Support QS with valuations, cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Lead variation identification, justification and submission to the client.
  • Monitor project cost performance and labour allocation.
  • Protect project margin and manage commercial risk.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting systems.
  • Manage practical completion and client sign-off process.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and supply chain relationships.
  • Support business development activities including client engagement and tenders support.
  • Lead estimating handover meetings and review all tender information.
  • Obtain detailed understanding of project scope, specifications, ERs and commercial allowances.
  • Manage the RFI process and design clarifications.
  • Coordinate with the design team to ensure all design deliverables align with programme requirements.
  • Review technical submittals and manage approval process with the client team.
  • Ensure all pre-construction documentation is completed prior to site commencement.

About The Role

The MEP Lead is responsible and accountable for the safe, commercially successful, and timely delivery of assigned projects from estimating handover through to final completion and client sign-off. The role manages the project lifecycle including design management, procurement strategy, programme delivery, commercial performance, stakeholder engagement, and project governance. The MEP Lead will lead the project team including Assistant Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors, and the wider supply chain to ensure alignment with company standards, contractual obligations, and client expectations.
