Job Profile: Project Manager

A Snapshot of your day

Fully responsible for successful project management execution of Components Engineering Projects. This role covers commercial and technical project controls, risk management, and project leadership. You will project manage several projects from inception through to handover, ensuring delivery within agreed parameters. Collaborate with the Principal Engineer for project direction, support, coordination, and risk management, managing a network of technical specialists. The role includes occasional supervision of apprentices.

What are my responsibilities?
  1. Project management: Provide project management, coordination, and guidance to the project team, ensuring objectives align with project requirements. Delegate tasks and make decisions independently.
  2. Process: Ensure adherence to project management processes, identify errors, and implement improvements.
  3. Risk: Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
  4. Delegate: Delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability.
  5. Support leaders: Report on project activities to the Programme Manager and Team Leaders.
  6. Supervisory: Occasionally supervise apprentices and mentor them in project management processes.
  7. Project controls: Monitor and report project performance, addressing underperformance issues.
  8. Continuous improvement: Drive process improvements to enhance project delivery.
  9. Finance: Support project financial planning and reporting.
  10. Ensure success: Achieve project success and customer satisfaction through stakeholder management.
  11. Schedule creation and bid support: Develop project schedules, resource plans, and costs; support bid proposals and client meetings.
  12. Scope control: Manage project scope, handle change requests, and create variation orders.
  13. Health and safety: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proactively improve safety measures.
  14. Client relationships: Act as the main contact for clients on active projects.
  15. Audits: Participate in audits and address findings.
  16. Business activities: Contribute to business improvement and strategic projects.
  17. Process adherence and improvement: Follow and improve project management processes and quality standards.
  18. Safety and decision-making: Ensure safety adherence and make project-level decisions independently.
What I need to be successful in this role
  • Excellent project management experience, preferably with a relevant qualification.
  • Understanding of engineering project execution and workplace planning.
  • Knowledge of customer operations, industry awareness, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of commercial and contract management.
