Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to lead the Competition in Connections portfolio, coordinating with customers and delivery partners to deliver projects on time and within budget. The role involves travel and hybrid working in a flexible, full-time arrangement.

You’ll oversee connection points for ICP/IDNO, manage upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards while maintaining accurate project progress and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electricity networks up to 11kVA, with experience in electric supply/distribution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PROMIS, GIS, and Power On is advantageous.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment with excellent customer service skills.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and working with framework partners.

We're seeking a passionate and dynamic Project Manager to join our Competition in Connections team!

In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering a range of projects, working closely with customers and delivery partners to make sure everything runs smoothly, stays on track, and comes in on budget.

This vacancy may close earlier than the advertised closing date if a high number of applications are received.

Competition in Connections was created to give customers more freedom in choosing who handles parts of their electrical connections. Whether it’s a Distribution Network Operator (DNO), Independent Connection Provider (ICP), or Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO), we aim to give customers the freedom to select the best provider for their needs.

You’ll be overseeing important connection points for the ICP/IDNO and managing any upgrades needed to help strengthen and improve the existing network.

You will

• Review project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with cross functional teams.
• Maintain clear, proactive communication with customers and stakeholders, providing regular project updates and addressing any issues that may impact delivery.
• Manage project budgets by tracking costs and recuperate relevant costs from customers to ensure that they remain within budget, avoiding overspends.
• Ensure that all projects comply with relevant industry regulations, standards and legal requirements.

You have

• Knowledge of electricity networks up to 11kVA, with experience in electric supply/distribution or other utilities is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. Experience with PROMIS, GIS, and Power On systems would be advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in a customer driven environment with excellent customer service skills.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and working with framework partners would be advantageous.
• Strong technical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders.

This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.

A valid driving licence is essential.
