Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is partnering with a regional highways and civil engineering contractor in Somerset to recruit an experienced Project Manager. You will oversee highways and civil engineering schemes from pre-construction through to handover, coordinating client, design teams and site delivery to meet programmes and budgets.

You will lead Site Managers and engineers, manage subcontractors, costs and forecasts, and ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering projects.
• Experience managing project teams and subcontractors.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of health & safety and quality requirements.
• Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering.
• SMSTS and CSCS qualifications.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of highways and civil engineering projects.
• Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and delivery teams.
• Leading and developing Site Managers, Site Agents, and Engineers.
• Managing client relationships and acting as the key point of contact throughout the project.
• Working closely with the Commercial team to monitor project performance, costs and forecasts.
• Managing subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with health & safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Supporting the business with pre-construction, tenders and future opportunities.

Abatec Recruitment is working with a well-established regional highways and civil engineering contractor on frameworks in Somerset to recruit an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Project Manager looking to take responsibility for the successful delivery of highways and civil engineering schemes, working for a respected regional contractor with a strong pipeline of work across the Southwest.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of highways projects from pre-construction through to completion.

You will work closely with the client, commercial team, designers, subcontractors and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely on programme and within budget.

As Project Manager you will:
