Overview

Projects Manager
Full-time, Permanent
Location: Daily onsite in Cheltenham with occasional customer onsite work/meetings to help manage large installations
Reporting to the Board
Salary: £60,000 OTE
A leading engineering company specialising in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems, factory automation systems including manufacturing process and packaging machinery, conveyors, robotics and vision inspection is seeking a Projects Manager.
This is a fast-paced and exciting environment with ground-breaking, bespoke projects. Standard production lines are rare; most work is custom-built. That\'s why the company values people who are more than project managers-they look for solutioneers.

The Role

You\'ll ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery, from initial planning to final FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).

You\'ll report directly to the board and will need to stay across multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring clarity, organisation, and momentum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and manage daily/weekly milestones
  • Manage resources and prevent bottlenecks
  • Track project hours vs. budget - proactively address overruns
  • Monitor and report project KPIs
  • Coordinate with engineering teams and direct reports
  • Oversee a clean, well-organised and efficient workshop
  • Lead regular stand-ups and attend weekly production meetings
  • Manage and improve quality control processes
  • Conduct and manage FATs
  • Lead project wrap-ups and continuous improvement
  • Manage direct reports: workshop manager, fabrication team leader, machine shop supervisor
  • Handle staff performance reviews and pay recommendations
  • Ensure accurate timesheet logging for financial reporting
  • Review daily onsite reports to track work and flag non-conformities
Requirements (Essential)
  • 5+ years\' experience as a project manager (ideally in an engineering/manufacturing setting)
  • Be comfortable managing multiple complex, bespoke projects
  • Be highly proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Have strong budget management skills
  • Be experienced with KPI reporting and resource planning
  • Have experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Be able to commute daily to Cheltenham (own transport is essential)
  • Be a strong communicator and a natural organiser
  • Be both autonomous and collaborative
  • Keep calm under pressure and juggle competing priorities
  • Be a practical, problem-solving \"solutioneer\"
