Job description

Project Manager (2 Roles Available) | Defence Company | Sandwich, Kent | Up to £55,000 | SC Clearance Eligibility Required

MERITUS are excited to be partnering with an innovative Defence company in Sandwich to recruit 2 Project Managers to assist with their increased project workload.

This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in project delivery, risk management, and cross-functional leadership, especially within mechanical, electro-optical, or systems engineering environments. Exposure to working on Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (STAR) systems or similar military-grade technologies will be highly beneficial.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced environment where you'll lead mission-critical projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery to the highest standards. Please note candidates must be eligible for SC level security clearance to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-value defence or engineering projects on time, within scope and budget.
2. Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, schedules, and cost reports.
3. Manage risk proactively, identifying potential issues early and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
4. Collaborate closely with internal departments, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and alignment.
5. Support bids and proposals by providing project delivery insights, costing analysis, and customer-aligned strategies.

Skills Required:

1. Proven project management experience in defence, aerospace, or complex engineering environments.
2. Strong working knowledge of PRINCE2, PMP, or other recognised project management frameworks.
3. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both client-facing and internal.
4. Eligibility for SC level security clearance.
5. Technical understanding of engineering disciplines such as mechanical, software, electro-optical, or systems architecture.
