Job summary

Galliford Try Plc is seeking a Project Manager to lead delivery of water treatment infrastructure within the Affinity Water Framework. You will drive end-to-end project delivery across a varied portfolio, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality outcomes.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets and schedules, and maintain essential documentation while prioritising safety and compliance in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering water or wastewater projects.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and project governance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple projects ensuring programme, budget, health and safety, and quality targets.
  • Provide clear leadership to project teams and engage stakeholders.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and ensure contractual alignment.
  • Review RAMS, Process Impact Assessments, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation including as-built records and O&M.
  • Oversee financial performance: cost control, forecasting, and P&L.
  • Prepare quotations, estimates, price variations, and final accounts.
  • Support commercial reporting and monthly programme reviews.
  • Develop detailed project programmes with planning and design teams.
  • Coordinate resources across departments to meet client expectations.
  • Manage procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, training, and close-out activities.
  • Attend site visits and progress reviews; ensure safe, compliant delivery.

Job description

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Environment Business Division, delivering water treatment infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for the Affinity Water Framework. You will lead end-to-end project delivery across a varied portfolio of clean water treatment schemes, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

  • Lead the successful delivery of multiple projects, ensuring performance against programme, budget, health and safety, environment, and quality targets.
  • Provide clear leadership to project teams, supporting development, engagement, and performance of colleagues at all levels.
  • Build effective working relationships with client representatives and stakeholders.
  • Manage day-to-day project operations and ensure alignment with contractual obligations, including NEC contract conditions.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, CDM, Environmental legislation, and company standards.
  • Review and assess in-house and subcontractor RAMS, Process Impact Assessments, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including "as-built" records and O&M information.
  • Take responsibility for project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, and profit/loss.
  • Prepare and review quotations, estimates, price variations, and final accounts.
  • Support commercial reporting and participate in monthly programme and financial reviews.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes in collaboration with planning and design teams.
  • Coordinate resources across departments to ensure project requirements and client expectations are met.
  • Manage procurement of materials, plant, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, training, and project close-out activities.
  • Attend site visits, stakeholder meetings, and progress reviews as required. ONC/HNC/BEng or equivalent industry qualification (or relevant vocational experience).
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH, SMSTS, CITB 5-day, or equivalent).
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Experience working within the water and/or wastewater industries.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts (desirable).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Collaborative team member with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
  • Effective communication skills across email, phone, and face-to-face settings.
